Emotional intelligence and, in particular, dealing with your own emotions is crucial for your scientific success. For example, it enables you to work more effectively in teams, deal constructively with setbacks and generally cope better with the pressure in science and research. A high level of emotional intelligence also promotes your ability to self-regulate and your resilience. This not only contributes to your well-being, but also to your long-term success in science.

About me

In over 18 years of professional experience in the German science system at various universities, I have noticed one thing time and again:

Scientists start their careers inspired, motivated and enthusiastic. But in the course of their career, many lose this enthusiasm, it turns into stress and pressure and, in the worst case, can lead to illness and burnout.

I find this frightening and unnecessary! Do you too?
